10/25/08 - What's been going on in 2008?! Sorry for not keeping the news up during 2008. We've been too busy training, racing, and having fun!
Take a look at our Results page for how we've done in our 2008 Adventure Racing so far. Unfortunately,
Greg and Kerry both suffered back injuries which caused them to miss most of the season. Kerry recovered pretty quickly and is back on the bike at least.
Greg is still on that long road to recovery.
The team also took on a new teammate - Loreen Mattson. Loreen is new to adventure racing but is no stranger to the mountain bike or running. She's a strong competitor with a great personality!
Matt L. and his wife Gina had a baby this summer. Plus, Matt is starting an MBA program. So these activities have kept Matt pretty busy. But Matt continues to keep
up his training and is planning on running the Chicago Marathon in October.
Matt F. took the year off from adventure racing to spend quality time with his daughter (Kelly) before she heads off to Oregon State. Kelly is an amazing cross-country runner
so Matt has spent the summer attending her events and encouraging her. Great job Matt! We look forward to seeing Matt back in the AR scene in 2009.
Besides Adventure Racing, the team has been busy bike racing (road and mountain). Karen has been doing most of the road racing this year. While, Karen, Todd, Matt K., Loreen, and Kerry
have been tearing up the mountain bike racing scene.

4/3/08 - Invited to Nationals in 2008. Thanks to a strong finish at the Bonk Hard Chill in February the team
recieved it's invitation to the 2008 USARA Nationals. The Nationals competition will be held in the mountains of North Georgia this year.

11/3/07 - Strong and Steady at Nationals The USARA chose a Missouri location for the 2007 USARA National championships. The organization
chose to put on the race was Bonk Hard Racing and race director Jason Elsenraat did not disappoint.
Race St. Louis was one of the 77 teams invited to compete. The team was represented by Matt Keeven, Karen Holtmann, and Todd Holtmann. The trio endured near-freezing
temperatures during a night paddle, over 20 miles of single track mountain biking,
and challenging navigation to finish the race in 33rd place.
At the post-race celebration pro adventure racer Robyn Benincasa presented Race St. Louis with the special "Buddha Award" (pictured below). Robyn gave the team the award - and some miniature Buddhas - to recognize
the postive attitude of the team as they crossed the finish line.

The race was a USARA midwest regional qualifier so we now have two team invites to the USARA nationals which are being held in Potosi, MO on Nov. 2-3.

7/6/07 - Keeven and Cuddihee qualify for MTB Nationals. Greg Cuddihee and Matt Keeven have both qualified for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships.
Due to the championships being in Vermont the two will not be attending. But we wanted to wish them both congratulations.

|
6/1/07 - New Teammates Added. We have added two new teammates to our adventure racing team: Greg Cuddihee and Matt Keeven.
Neither Greg or Matt are new to adventure racing. They have both competed at many of the regional races and done very well. The pair have had top 3 finishes at their last 3 adventure races. The dyanamic duo are also
very competitive in the local road and mountain bike racing circuit.

10/15/06 - Disappointing 2006. 2006 has turned out to be a year of disappointment and injury. The team hoped
to end the year with the Adventure Extreme. But due to injury, we postponed our Utah race until 2007. We're also watching a
transition in the sport of Adventure Racing. It seems that the longer 24 to 36-hour races are diminishing, while the shorter 1-day/sprint
races are doing well. Hopefully, this is where the strong races and race directors will survive.

|
6/29/06 - Slow 2006 set to end big. It's been a slow year for the team so far in 2006, but we're going to make up for it.
After a disappointing showing in the Michigan Coast to Coast and lightening stopping a fantastic Goomna race, the team is setting it sites on the Adventure eXtream - a 4 day race in Moab Utah.
The race is Oct 5th - 10th. We're going to be focused on training and may even take a training trip to Utah in August.

|
2/11/06 - Kerry and Matt catch a Chill. Braving freezing temps Matt and Kerry raced together for the first time in the 1st Annual Bonk Hard Chill in the Lake of the Ozarks.
The race saw very cold temps and caused many teams to drop out/DNF. However, Kerry and Matt toughed it out finishing 17th out of 52 teams while managing to keep all their fingers and toes.

have no impact on site visitors.
